The Pensacola Civic Band has a long and storied history starting back in 1971.  With just a few musicians and directors, the Pensacola Civic Band began a legacy and standard of excellence that has been recognized across the U.S. In 2002, the band received the prestigious Sudler Silver Scroll Award by the John Phillip Sousa Foundation. This award recognizes community bands in North America that consistently perform quality music at a very high level and contribute significantly to the cultural environment of their community.  This did not happen over night or with ease. It took great leadership and direction from those who have been in the band over the years.

Does this mean you have to be a professional musician? NO! Does this mean you have to be the best at your instrument? NO!

We audition players that want to join the band to determine where they are in their music journey and where best to place individuals to benefit the band and keep the excellence we are known for throughout the band community.

Joining is Easy!

We would love to have you join us. Below is the prepared exercise for your instrument along with a sound file that you can listen to for a reference. Download the prepared exercise below and contact us to setup an audition time with our director, Doug Holsworth.

The audition will be conducted at Pensacola State College’s Pensacola campus at the Ashmore Auditorium (specific time and location will be provided by Doug Holsworth).
